We have two office locations to serve you better – Victoria and West Kelowna BC. Jason Kozina oversees survey projects on Southern Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. Our West Kelowna office serves the Central Okanagan under the supervision of Jacob Wall and James Thomas. Jason, Jacob and James are all BC Land Surveyors with years of experience serving both the private and public sectors across multiple industries.

Jason Kozina

Jason C. Kozina, BCLS

Jason C. Kozina, BCLS is a long time resident of southern Vancouver Island living in Saanich, East Sooke and currently Langford. He graduated from the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 1992 with an honours degree in Surveying and Mapping. Jason then articled under Leonard Orrico, BCLS obtaining his BC Land Surveyor commission in 2000.

Jason has spent his career surveying on a wide variety of projects for private land owners, developers, municipalities, engineers and both Provincial & Federal government agencies. Surveying on Vancouver Island for over 25 years has given Jason a wealth of local survey knowledge, experience, contacts and approval processes which assists in the efficient completion of survey projects in a timely manner. Jason enjoys helping new clients though the survey component of their project and enjoys being a team member contributing to the successful completion of projects.

In his spare time, Jason likes to spend time with family and friends along with being in the great outdoors of BC, fishing, exploring and dirt bike riding.

Jacob Wall

Jacob Wall, BCLS

Jacob studied at Red River College in Winnipeg, Manitoba and graduated from the Geomatics Technology diploma program with Honours in 2007.

Following graduation, Jacob moved to Vancouver Island where he started his surveying career. He gained practical experience working on a variety of different surveying projects, and completed his articles under Jason Kozina, BCLS.

While gaining experience on Vancouver Island, Jacob started a small software company as a hobby. These software interests and skills landed Jacob in Kelowna in 2015 where he took a position with a software company serving the land surveying industry worldwide.

In 2017 Jacob began work with a land surveying firm in Kelowna, where he completed his academic and practical training. Jacob obtained his BC Land Surveyor commission in 2019.

Jacob is passionate about providing excellent service and helping his clients complete their projects efficiently. He believes in being technologically progressive and enjoys solving complex surveying problems.

Jacob likes to travel with his family and working on his software development hobby in his spare time.

James Thomas

James H. Thomas, BCLS

James is a British Columbia Land Surveyor with over 12 years of experience in land surveying, engineering and land development projects. His background spans several industries, including: Legal Land Surveying, Residential Land Development, Transportation & Infrastructure, Oil & Energy, and Mining. He has been involved in many large-scale development initiatives, including: Baffinland Iron Mines Mary River project and Manitoba Hydro’s Bipole III transmission line.

Born and raised in Fredericton, New Brunswick, James completed the Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering Program at the University of New Brunswick in 2011. He spent his early career working throughout the western provinces and Canada’s northern region before moving to the Okanagan in 2016.

It was at this time James met his future business partner, Jacob Wall, while working for a surveying software developer. Upon returning to field work, and working his way up to management, he was involved in projects throughout BC, Yukon, and the NWT. James articled under Geoff Hobbs, gaining his commission as a BCLS in 2021. Based in West Kelowna, James is now a partner at Summit Land Surveying.

Drawing upon a diverse project background, a strong technical ability and a keen desire to help, James is a professional you can count on to find a solution. In his spare time, James enjoys spending time in the mountains skiing and hiking, as well as woodworking and DIY projects.
